Lower Your Property Taxes in a Declinng Real Estate Market

There has been lots of media coverage regarding the decline in real estate prices over the last 18 months or so, but the one thing that the media never seems to do is offer suggestions on what you can do.

For example, you can lower your property taxes by having your California real property reassessed under Proposition 8 for property tax purposes. If your property is not in California, you should contact your local jurisdiction responsible for real property tax assessments to learn what you can do.

There are a number of good companies that can assist you with the process as well, including a company that I have used personally called The Property Tax Savings Specialists.

It may lower your annual property taxes by 1,000's of dollars. It doesn't hurt to at least look into it.

I tried to lower my property taxes on my own and it was a absolute headache! It took me months to get answers to my simple questions. I ended up Googling "prop 8" and I found a company called www.prop8.org. They saved me over $1,800 a year. Yeah it cost me some money to save some money but in the end my SANITY was worth it! Good luck guys!

Hi Mike,

Thank you for stopping by and posting. We actually had Prop8Pros on The Exeter Group Real Estate Talk Radio Show a few months ago to discuss reducing property taxes in the current declining market and how they can help.
